AIR POLLUTION AND TRAFFIC
It is concluded that pollution of the air caused by motor traffic is a problem that should not be underestimated. Smoking inside the car contributes to a considerable extent to the absorption of large amounts of carbon-monoxide. Smoking in enclosed spaces constitutes a very important source of air pollution. A driver's fitness to drive may be impaired by smoking inside the car. The emission of polycyclic aromatic compounds and of particles of lead by motor traffic has developed into a serious danger which is threatening mankind. The covering abstract for the conference is IRRD No. 211714. /TRRL/
