A FILE DETECTION OR QUEUE MEASURING SYSTEM
EEN FILEDETECTIE-OF QUEUEMETINGSYSTEEM
This article explains the difference and similarity between a file and a queue. It also deals with the development of files and queues as well as the reasons for measurement of the same in urban areas and on motorways. The purpose of a measuring-system is defined specifically for the urban area. The chance of faulty recordings is indicated and a configuration of the measuring area for loop detectors is proposed. The measurement of speed and the measurement of time of occupation have been chosen as a means to determine a file or queue. The results of the measurements render it possible to influence traffic control installations in urban areas. /Author/TRRL/
