INTERACTION GRAPHS FOR STEEL COLUMNS
GRAFICOS DE INTERACCION PARA COLUMNAS DE ACERO
Maximum strength curves are presented for steel columns composed of standardised cross-sections subjected at their extremities to axial stresses and moment. The strength is A function characteristic of the section such as the plastic moment and ultimate buckling load. Simple analytical curves are proposed to replace those obtained experimentally and to facilitate a numerical solution. Corrective factors are also proposed for cases when the movements applied to the extremities are different; they enable residual stresses due to welding to be taken into account in the calculations. Experimental and theoretical curves are given for slenderness l over rx of 0, 40, 80, and 120. Some graphs for the calculation of some standard cross-sections are also included. /TRRL/
