VALUATION OF COEFFICIENTS IN THE SIMULTANEOUS TRAFFIC MODEL
HET SCHATTEN VAN COEFFICIENTEN IN HET SIMULTANE VERKEERSMODEL
The coefficients of the selection functions of the traffic model as regards the mode of distribution and transportation are often calculated independently of each other. This practice meets with a number of theoretical and practical objections. The main practical objection is that the trip resistance, which is used as an explanatory variable, cannot be exactly determined. Sometimes this disadvantage also applies to the conditional probability model. The simultaneous valuation model has been developed in order to eliminate these disadvantages. By means of this model the coefficients of the simultaneous traffic model are estimated. The valuation model is derived with the help of the Fisher likelihood valuation model which is based on the theory of probabilities and briefly dealt with in this article. For a determination of the coefficients it is necessary to have the disposal of O.D. tables of movements according to mode of transportation and O.D. tables of resistances according to mode of transportation. It is in principle possible to distinguish pre- and post transport resistances as separate explanatory variables. (A) /TRRL/
