MASTIX OVERLAYS - A SUCCESSFUL METHOD OF RESURFACING FIXED-LEVEL PAVEMENTS

The method used in Leipzig to improve the traffic safety of slippery set pavements with or without tram tracks by means of mastix overlays is described. Statements are made on the composition of the overlays and the techniques applied. The method is evaluated and compared with experiences gained from comparable methods, and additional methods of application are suggested. It is also pointed out that A more widespread use of this method involves difficulties because the necessary technical data are not yet available. /TRRL/
