PREFABRICATED TEMPORARY ROADS
BAUSTRASSEN AUS FERTIGTEILEN
In general, roads of precast or prefabricated pavement elements are uneconomical. This is not the case for temporary roads, although they also require a uniform, solid support of adequate bearing capacity. Adequate design dimensions should keep costs as low as possible. Trapesoidal panels have not been satisfactory. Smaller panels of this type may be used together with prefabricated rectangular panels. The width of the rectangular panels should be 1 M or 0.9 M. According to the new German standard (DDR. TGL 23380 BL.2), which is not yet binding, - the panels should be frost proof to guarantee adequate durability. The panels must have adequate bearing capacity even though the reaction of the subgrade is low. Design tolerances and damage on concrete slabs are briefly described. /TRRL/
