A description is given of the properties of tyres which are important for safety and durability, under the following headings: air pressure ply rating, tubeless tyres,series 70 tyres, running-in time, rims, speed limits. Progress in the development of tyres is illustrated by examples of the new generation of tyres from continental, Dumlap, Michelin and Phoenix. /TRRL/
