A METHOD OF ASSESSING THE EXTENT OF TRAFFIC GENERATED BY DEVELOPMENT PROPOSALS IN MEDIUM-SIZED TOWNS
The current pressure which exists to develop land for residential and other purposes often poses difficult problems for the highway planner. This is so because the scale of development can give rise to traffic which either overloads existing road systems or demands new road space. Consequently a method of evaluating such effects is highly desirable. This paper presents a technique which can be used to predict the extent to which roads will be affected by proposed developments and in so doing is considered to be a valuable aid to the highway planner. /Author/TRRL/
