THE IMPORTANCE OF TIME IN THE TRANSPORT FIELD

The binomial equation journey cost/journey time is one of the most important factors in the behaviour of road users as regards the selection of transport mode and itinerary. Various theoretical and practical methods of accurately evaluating the value given to time by the road user are described. In order to treat the problem objectively, time value is related to the average salary, thus giving A monetary assessment. The concept of generalised time is used. This concept comprises the actual journey time, changes from mode to mode, number of these changes and discomfort during the journey. /TRRL/
