MACHINES FOR TESTING COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH
DRUKBANKEN
A description is furnished of the operation and behaviour of a number of machines for testing compressive strength; these testing machines may be considered as being representative for the Netherlands in this respect. The results of compressive strength measurements indicate that these are influenced by the testing machines concerned to a much greater degree than one ever realised. The investigation described in the present article demonstrates that it is necessary to draw up a programme of requirements which the testing machines have to satisfy. A special study group on 'testing apparatus' has taken on this task and will perform the necessary studies and research. /TRRL/
