LIMITATIONS AND METHODS OF MECHANIZED MAINTENANCE OF MOUNTAIN PASSES
GRENZEN UND MOEGLICHBEITEN DER MECHANISIERTEN EHBALTUNG VON GEBIRGSSTRASSEN
The author reports on basic methods of maintaining mountain passes, both in summer and in winter months, and on surveillance of sections of road by means of motorized authorities or by the permanent presence of road maintenance men at specially equipped support points. He also reports on clearance of snow and ice by mechanical spreading of salt and chippings, on the presignalization of access roads with respect to the possible use of mountain roads, and on the use of radio stations at maintenance points and in vehicles. /TRRL/
