CORROSION MONITORING OF REBARS IN AN EXISTING CONCRETE STRUCTURE
According to the research results by the authors, the electrochemical characteristics (E:natural potential, Rp:polarization resistance and Rs:solution resistance) measured from the concrete surface consist of two factors: the electrochemical characteristics of the reinforcement and cover concrete. In order to achieve high accuracy of corrosion prediction it is necessary to examine the above two factors in detail and preferably to develop the investigation technique of existing concrete structures. This paper is based on the corrosion monitoring results of an existing 30 year old structure, showing a case where dry concrete cover influences the E and Rp values, making them more noble and larger respectively. Furthermore, drill-hole method, which is very useful to investigate the influence of the cover concrete, is also reported. (A) For the covering abstract see IRRD 861706.
