A COMPUTER-BASED SYSTEM FOR LICENSING ELDERLY DRIVERS AND POSSIBLY OTHERS
This paper proposes a computer-based licensing system for the "problem class" of driver. Specific focus is on elderly drivers whose participation would be voluntary or based on a court decree. The suggested system is a challenge for researchers to develop individual items, for inclusion in the testing, that have predictive validity, and to combine scores on these items according to a series of decision rules that permit a logical, valid, and legally defensible recommendation for licensure.
