HYDROLOGIC ASPECTS OF URBANIZATION

Some observational data and computations on individual aspects of the hydrologic budget are presented from urban areas in many countries. The effect of urbanization on the hydrologic regime is discussed in regard to elimatic effect, runoff, annual runoff, maximum discharges, low-flow runoff, and sediment discharge. The author points out that in analyzing and applying foreign experience there are essential differences between city construction and utilization of water resources in socialist and capitalistic countries.
