ANALYSIS OF CONSOLIDATION BY RATE PROCESS THEORY
The time-deformation behavior in one-dimensional consolidation tests is analyzed by considering the soil structure resistance as a visco-elastic system. The viscous flow is assumed to obey Eyring's rate process theory. The characteristics of experimental time-deformation curves are found to be controlled by the visco-elastic parameters which are used to interpret the nature of the soil structure and its deformation. /ASCE/
