REPLICA MODELING IN SOIL DYNAMICS
Comparisons between the displacement experienced by 1/5 scale models and prototypes for a series of drop tests under controlled conditions and a series of artillery foundation tests in the field demonstrate the importance of modeling soil layering and compaction in granular- soils. Only by simulating soil compaction does correlation occur in sand and remolded clays. Replica model and prototype results relate reasonably to preconsolidated clays. /ASCE/
