EARTH PRESSURES FOR BILINEAR BACKFILL SURFACE
The author first discusses the calculation and a grapho-analytical method for the determination of earth pressures on vertical, straight and broken back-faces of earth retaining walls, based on Coulomb's classical earth pressure theory in noncohesive as well as cohesive soils. The broken back face of the wall can be graphically converted into the equivalent unbroken back face of the wall by several methods. These methods are facilitated by the author's tables, which are described in some detail.
