A NEW DEVELOPMENT PHASE FOR PIPE-LINES. SOLID MATERIALS MAY BE TRANSPORTED
NY UTVECKLINGSFAS FOR RORLEDNINGAR FASTA MATERIAL TRANSPORTERAS
To construct pipe-lines is capital-demanding, to construct railways is work-demanding. But when a pipe-line is constructed, the increase in costs for transport by pipe-line is about 1% year per transport unit, which can be compared with an increase of up to 5% in the case of railway transport. The pipe-line technique is at present developing towards transport of solid materials, like parcels, waste, ore. This transport is carried out by means of wagons within the tubes, "tube-expresses."
