ADVANCED SONAR RECORDING TECHNIQUES USING FIBER OPTICS
An increasingly apparent need for better Sonar display capability has led to the development of fiber optic CRT and film recorders which satisfy the needs of improved reliability, accuracy, resolution, dynamic range and increased simplicity. The recorder is divided into four sections: (1) graphic display with video processing, (2) sweep generation, (3) alpha numeric character generation, and (4) film handling and development. Operation is considered to be simple and either linear or non-linear sweep programs can be provided. Research is currently underway to improve the unit and to further its use.
