RAIL TRANSIT TIME REDUCED 80% BY GREAT LAKE INTERMODAL SERVICE
A new rail car barge service was started in 1974 between Thunder Bay, Ontario and Superior, Wisconsin. The ship can carry twenty-six 50 foot railcars on five tracks and reduces travel time between the two ports from three days by rail to 14 hours. The ship is operated by Incan Marine, a subsidiary of Canadian Pacific and Inchcape Company, Britain.
