THE LEGAL STATUS OF THE LASH SHIP
This paper attempts to highlight the legal difficulties arising from the use of the LASH system. the three central problems which occur in connection with this system are: (a) the legal nature of the barge; (b) whether the inland voyage is a separate phase in the transport or a continuation of the ocean voyage; and (c) the nature of the contract with the tug owner.
