WAVE RESONATORS FOR HARBOUR PROTECTION
Excessive wave action in a small harbor was investigated using both a hydraulic and an acoustical model. A remedial scheme was developed to both reduce the frequency response of the harbor as well as the level of wave energy passing through the harbor mouth. How this was achieved is described. The actual construction of the new harbor facilities have been completed, and subsequent observations which were made established the effectiveness of the improvements. Other applications of similar schemes are also briefly discussed.
