A SIMULATED APPROACH TO SHIPHANDLING
Provides a review of ship simulator operations at the Netherland's Ship Model Basin, Marine Safety International's simulator at La Guardia Airport, N.Y. and the newly constructed Computer Aided Operations Research Facility (CAORF) at Kings Point, N.Y. A comparison is made with regard to the goals of each and the general operations and layout of the facilities for training and research in ship handling. Also mentions plans for the National River Academy at Helena, Arkansas to install a similar unit for training river pilots for towboat operations.
