LIFTING-LINE THEORY OF SUPERCAVITATING HYDROFOIL OF FINITE SPAN
The title theory is developed for case of non-zero cavitation number. Simplification of basic equations in the perturbed flow field in the case of large aspect ratio shows that two-dimensionality still holds with respect to an effective angle of attack over the span. Making use of this result, an integral equation is derived for the circulation distribution over the span and its numerical method of solution is shown. Foil characteristics are obtained from circulation calculated and discussed in details in relation to the aspect ratio and cavitation number. In particular a three-dimensional correction factor is introduced for finite-span supercavitating hydrofoils. Comparisons with experimental data for former theories validate the present theory.
