METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR SEISMIC DATA ACQUISITION BY SEQUENTIAL SAMPLING OF DATA

An amplifier at each geophone station is connected to a single, two-wire data transmission line that leads to a recording truck. A series of strobing pulses are sent down another two-wire transmission line and samples of geophone signals from each amplifier are switched sequentially to the data transmission line. Each data pulse indicates an incremental change of geophone signal. The repetition period of the strobing pulse is equal to the two-way propagation time along a two-wire transmission line from the recording truck to the farthest geophone station. /Patent Abstract/
