A SUGGESTED SIMPLIFIED SYSTEM FOR PAVEMENT MAINTENANCE MANAGEMENT OF A ROAD NETWORK
Pavement Maintenance Management System (PMMS) studies are required in order to programme the investments on pavements of a selected road network so as to achieve optimal results. This paper presents the results of a case study of PMMS carried out on the primary and secondary roads of Bangalore Metropolitan Development Authority area. A simple approach for obtaining the most economical pavement maintenance strategy is suggested. This approach may be used until more sophisticated methods are developed with the aid of a large data bank and advanced methods of analysis. Pavement maintenance strategies worked out for a network of roads using the principles of PMMS could result in considerable saving in road user cost and overall transportation cost. (A)
