TRAVTEK FIELD STUDY RESULTS TO DATE

The TravTek Field Study is designed to evaluate an Advanced Traveler Information System (ATIS) under normal operating conditions. One major component of the Field Study consists of the Rental User Evaluation, in which business and leisure travelers to the Orlando area are recruited by the American Automobile Association (AAA) and are provided a TravTek vehicle through the AVIS rental agency. Results to date show that drivers are positive in their ratings of the TravTek visual and auditory interfaces for route guidance. Data recorded on the in-vehicle computer logs support the subjective ratings with respec to TravTek interfaces. Also, drivers perceive the system as helping them save time and drive more safely in reaching their destinations.
