CURRENT PROGRESS IN THE COLLABORATIVE TESTING PROGRAMME OF THE STRESS CORROSION CRACKING (FRACTURE MECHANICS) WORKING GROUP
A preliminary analysis is presented of the initial results of the collaborative testing programme of the Stress Corrosion Cracking (Fracture Mechanics) Working Group of the Corporate Laboratories. In this analysis the results are interpreted in terms of the influences of specimen geometry, maximum fatigue pre-cracking stress intensity, test temperature and laboratory error. It is concluded that the only significant errors can be attributed to differences in the calibration and accuracy of testing equipment between the participating laboratories, and the failure to adhere to the recommended testing procedure found to be most satisfactory for the material and environment used.
