HEI - A NEW IGNITION SYSTEM THROUGH NEW TECHNOLOGY
A new high-energy , electronic ignition (HEI) system with substantially improved performance and durability has been developed for automotive gasoline engines. All components of the system are integrated within the distributor, and no scheduled parts replacement or adjustment of system components is required. The requirements of system performance and durability, which guided the development of the new system, are outlined. New concepts, materials, and technology used in the design and development are illustrated and explained. /GMRL/
