PRODUCTION PLANNING TO ACHIEVE DELIVERY DATES
A study was carried out by the BISRA Operational Research Department to determine a method for calculating realistic, competitive delivery quotations and of designing a system for planning and controlling production so as to achieve the promised delivery times. By assigning costs to the various factors affecting the quotation and realisation of delivery times it has been possible to show that a delivery quotation which leads to minimum cost can be determined and the minimum cost has been taken as indicating the optimal situation.
