MINERAL LINERS AT ROAD SLOPES FOR GROUND WATER PROTECTION

THE AIM OF THE RESEARCH WORK REPORTED HERE WAS TO ESTABLISH REQUIREMENTS FOR MINERAL LINERS IN THE SLOPE PROTECTION OF ROADS. BASED ON THE LITERATURE SURVEY DONE, SOME PARAMETERS INFLUENCING THE BEHAVIOUR OF MINERAL LINERS ARE BRIEFLY DISCUSSED. IN THE COURSE OF THE RESEARCH PROJECT FIVE EXISTING SLOPE PROTECTION STRUCTURES WERE STUDIED AND THEIR WATER PERMEABILITY VALUES DETERMINED BOTH IN LABORATORY AND IN FIELD CONDITIONS. ADDITIONALLY GRANULOMETRY, NATURAL WATER CONTENT, MAXIMUM DRY DENSITY, AND THE CORRESPONDING OPTIMUM WATER CONTENT WERE DETERMINED. THE INFLUENCE OF CHEMICALS ON THE PERMEABILITY OF SILT MORAINE AND CLAYEY SILT WAS STUDIED. THE INFLUENCE OF FROST-THAW PERIODS ON WATER PERMEABILITY WAS INCLUDED. THIS REPORT REVIEWS THE ESSENTIAL RESULTS OF THE RESEARCH WORK DONE.
