ADVANCED MEASUREMENT SYSTEMS FOR ROUTINE ASSESSMENT OF BRAKE PERFORMANCE
Two measurement systems are described, one for the analysis of brake noise on vehicles and dynamometers, the other for mapping transient rotor surface temperature as an aid to assessment of compatibility between rotor and friction material. Examples and interpretations of data collected using each system are given and it is explained how use of these systems not only provides more rapid assessment of key performance characteristics but also increases our understanding of such phenomena so that their influence can be more easily taken account of at an early stage during formulation.
