RESPONSE OF BRIDGES TO WIND
The book describes the contribution of the Transport Research Laboratory (TRL) to research into different aspects of the interaction between wind and bridges, and includes loading, response and the protection of users. Current theories on the response of bridges to wind effects are reviewed and also applied to a series of bridge structures in the United Kingdom. The theoretical results are compared to the actual behaviour as obtained from full-scale measurements. Other measurements discussed include that of wind loading on a motorway sign gantry.
