CROSS SECTION FOR ROAD TUNNELS
UTFORMING AV TUNNELTVERRSNITTFOR VEGER
Many different cross sections have been employed in road tunneling. Experience has shown that the application of few specified cross sections gives many advantages, and that circular cross sections should be preferred. The advantages include possible standardization of measurements for round drilling, liner plates and concrete lining, and the inherently stable form of the rock vault. Accordingly, 4 different road tunnel profiles are proposed to cover all road classes. The proposed road tunnel cross sections are shown in Figure 4 and Table 3. /Author/
