PRESENT FORMULAE FOR BITUMINOUS MIXTURES: TRENDS IN SHORT-AND MEDIUM-TERM EVOLUTION

FORMULATION ACTUELLE DES ENROBES BITUMINEUX PERSPECTIVES D'EVOLUTION A COURT ET MOYEN TERME

The authors recall the characteristics of the various bituminous mixtures currently used in different countries in the construction of wearing courses and roadbases. Formulae are classified into 4 categories, this classification being based on laboratory tests and observations of pavement behaviour in the countries where the formulae are used. A study is made of the influence of bitumen on bituminous mixtures and of the possibility of improving the latter. Formulae currently used in france are examined to see whether they give full satisfaction and whether new formulae are needed for wearing courses and roadbases.
