THE PIPELINE TRANSPORTATION OF SOLIDS - THEORETICAL AND PRACTICAL CONSIDERATIONS
For many years it has been known that a number of bulk solid materials can be transported by mixing them with a suitable liquid and handling them as slurries using conventional pumps, pipes or open channels. As empirical knowledge has accumulated the proposed uses of slurry pipelines have greatly increased in size and scope. This article outlines the problems which are rapidly being overcome to make the solids pipelines a serious competitor for the transportation of bulk materials. (A) /TRRL/
