RECOGNITION OF ROAD PAVEMENT MESSAGES - A SIMULATION
Subjects were presented with colour slides of road pavement messages, photographed at a range of distances, and recognition threshold visual angles were determined for each of several message letter heights. It was found that effects due to non-linear perception of distance, previously observed in a field study, were accurately reproduced in the laboratory. Thresholds were significantly affected by exposure time of the message (A) /TRRL/
