A RESEARCH ON STRIPPING OF ASPHALT MIXTURE
The authors give details of a survey carried out in Japan from which it was found that stripping of asphalt mixtures is widespread in the country. 762 sites were investigated for a 2-year period. The development of stripping and its relationship with other factors affecting road deterioration were studied. Details of two test pavements and the results obtained over 4-5 years are given. It appeared that hydrated lime was most effective in reducing stripping. The authors study the importance of stripping and propose three methods for its prevention.
