AN ELECTROMAGNETIC BRAKE FOR MARSHALLING YARD HUMPS
ELEKTROMAGNITNYJ PUTEVOJ ZAMEDLITEL
The article describes the design and the operation of the "EMZ" electromagnetic brake which is used in the USSR for brake wagons at marshalling yard humps. Brake resistance is determined by the electrodynamic brake control and mechanical friction. In the three years that they have been used, EMZ brakes have proved to be extremely effective.
