GUIDELINES FOR THE DESIGN AND PLACEMENT OF STREET SIGNS IN THE DENVER REGION

Providing sufficient time to allow motorists to make appropriate turning movements when approaching cross streets can improve safety and reduce congestion. Consistent street signing across political jurisdictions can be helpful in achieving these purposes as well as presenting an orderly, predictable and attractive picture of the region to tourists and business people as well as residents. This report provides guidelines for uniform design and application of street signing. It is not a substitute for engineering judgement. Engineering studies may result in variances from the guidelines described in this paper.
