This Specification for Highway Works is published in 7 Parts, cov all aspects of procedures, materials, construction and engineerin Unless specifically defined otherwise the definition of terms use this Specification are those in BS 6100, Glossary of Building and Civil Engineering Terms or BS 892 Glossary of Highway Engineering Terms where it khas not been superseded by BS 6100. Abbreviation in accordance with the recommendations in BS 5775. Unless stated the contrary, the thickness of material described means the finis or compacted thickness. The requirements for tolerances where necessary are incorporated in the Specification, on the drawings reference in the British Standards. This work has been supersede volume 1 of the Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works, 1 (IRRD 847971).
