DIGITAL CONTROL OF DIESEL ENGINE FUEL INJECTION
The quality, especially the combustibility, of marine fuel will become inferior in the future. This calls for improved combustion control in marine diesel engines. A computer based fuel injection system is briefly described and some results from laboratory engine tests reported. The results clearly demonstrate the system's ability to control burning rate. Significant improvements in combustion control for engines burning heavier fuels therefore seem possible.
