SEISMIC ANALYSIS DESIGN OF FRAMES WITH VISCOELASTIC CONNECTIONS
A new type of energy dissipating connection that has been developed and tested is described. Test results were used to develop a Kelvin-Voigt-type model in which the elastic modulus is expressed as function of the durometer of the elastomeric material, and the viscosity coefficient is related to the durometer hardness and frequency. The paper also presents an analytical method for the dynamic analysis of structures with these energy-dissipating connections, and some results are evaluated and discussed.
