AN APPROXIMATE METHOD FOR THE DESIGN OF STIFFENED STEEL COMPRESSION PANELS
An approximate method for the analysis of wide stiffened flange plates loaded axially is presented. The method allows for the reduction of stiffness of plates with large values of b/t and also for the effects of residual stresses and plate imperfections. Test results of thirty-one stiffened plates loaded axially show that satisfactory prediction of ultimate loads can be obtained by the proposed method. (A) /TRRL/
