COMBINING SUBAREAS IN A COMPUTER CONTROLLED ROAD NETWORK
This paper describes an investigation of the delays incurred by traffic passing between junctions with different cycle times. A range of traffic and road conditions is considered. The analysis results in a procedure, which utilizes the transyt program, for determining whether subareas which, when considered by themselves, operate best with different cycle times should or should not be combined into a larger area or subareas with a common cycle time. The criterion used is the total delay to traffic in the network. (A) /TRRL/
