MAINTENANCE PLANNING FOR FREIGHT AND TRANSIT SYSTEMS
Planning has become an essential element of track maintenance on heavy-tonnage freight and high-density commuter/transit lines. RT&S and Zeta-Tech Associates held a two day conference on track-maintenance planning in which engineers and planners discussed some of the approaches that are in use and under development on transit agencies and regional and commuter railroads. This article looks at how freight railroads plan maintenance.
