THE DISASTER OF DEREGULATION. SYMPOSIUM: AIRLINES AND THE FUTURE OF AVIATION, WASHINGTON, D.C., MAY 28-29, 1992
This article discusses why deregulation of the airline industry has been a major failure. The author concludes that the Department of Transportation has thoroughly discredited and forfeited any right to leadership, having nearly destroyed what had been the finest airline system in the world. He proposes that Congress resume leadership in commercial aviation in order to restore vitality to the industry. His final statement is, "Sam Skinner proclaimed recently that the deregulation debate is over. For once he is right, and the results are obvious."
