REGULATION NEWS. PROSPECTS AND IMPACTS OF LOW VOC LEGISLATION IN CANADA
This article presents an overview of federal and provincial legislation that may affect the coatings industry in Canada. The paper also focuses on efforts under consideration in Canada to reduce VOC (volatile organic compounds) emissions from coatings, and concludes by considering the effects of the pending legislation on facility owners, specifiers, inspectors, contractors, fabricators, and manufacturers. Ten pieces of legislation that would have an effect on the coatings marketplace are noted. Initiatives relative to VOC control are described, and three studies and investigations of specific relevance to the coatings industry are noted.
