WAVE OSCILLATIONS IN AN OFFSHORE OIL STORAGE TANK
The prediction from the theory of resonant frequencies for internal and surface waves corresponds very well with the experimental results. A change in oil density does not have any significant effect on the period of the waves need to cause surface-wave oscillation. It does have a significant effect on the period of the waves needed to cause internal-wave oscillation; the higher the density of oil, the higher the wave period needed to generate a particular mode of oscillator. Equations show calculations; graphs, diagrams, and plates are appended.
