ALL CHANGE ON THE CIRCLE LINING?
Segmental linings do not adapt easily to the space requirements of modern underground railways. A ground support system using shotcrete followed by an in-situ concrete lining appears to offer many advantages over segments. In the near future a number of projects will be constructed in the London Clay, a good tunnelling material, which would be an ideal opportunity to use this approach.
